DR S GAUNT

Male
Dr Gaunt trained at Leicester University and graduated in 1991. He moved to the glorious South Coast in 1994 and has not regretted it since. He joined the practice in January 1999. He particularly enjoys working with the elderly and currently spends half a day a week working in one of the local nursing homes as part of the Totton Nursing Home Project. He is a representative on the Local Medical Committee (LMC) for Totton practices. He is the Information Governance Lead and Caldicot Guardian for the practice. Outside of work he enjoys running, spending time with his family and church activities.

Dr Falle comes from Jersey, trained in London at St George’s Hospital Medical School and qualified in 1992. She worked in A&E and Hospital Medicine for a few years both in England and New Zealand before doing General Practice training in Southampton. She joined Totton Health Centre in 2000. She enjoys all aspects of Medicine, especially Rheumatology and Elderly Care and has a particular interest in mental health and social isolation. In her free time she volunteers for the Totton Time Bank and spends as much time as possible with her family sailing along the South Coast and Brittany.

Dr Johnson trained at Oxford University, graduating in 1989. Having grown up in Hampshire, she returned to join the partnership in Totton in May 2002. She enjoys the challenge of the variety of work within general practice and has developed expertise in managing patients with rheumatological conditions and ENT problems. She values the team work within primary care and works hard to foster integration and communication between services. Outside work she enjoys playing her violin, playing tennis and family time.

Dr Hunt trained at Southampton University and graduated in 2003. Eleanor worked in hospital medicine in Southampton and Salisbury before joining the practice as a trainee and subsequently becoming a partner in 2010. She is now a GP Trainer herself. She is particularly interested in medical education and cardiovascular health and fitness, as well as, women’s health and contraception. Outside of work, Eleanor enjoys running: both for fitness and after her children!

Dr Renshaw trained at Cardiff University, graduating in 2014. Since then she has worked in hospital medicine across South Wales and Hampshire and spent some time working in Australia. She completed her GP training in Southampton and joined the practice as a trainee before subsequently becoming a partner in 2023. Her interests are women’s health and sexual health. In her spare time she enjoys travelling, swimming and spending time with her family.

Dr Cassell trained at St George’s in London and initially pursued a career in hospital medicine, undertaking training in the South and Midlands before switching to GP Training. She completed her GP training in Coventry and Warwickshire before moving down to Hampshire in 2021. Her interests include medical education and general medicine, and she has now become a GP Trainer. Outside of work she enjoys reading, cooking, traveling and being by the sea with her young children.

Dr Hill trained in the Southwest at the Universities of Exeter and Plymouth. She then moved back and worked across Winchester and Southampton. Dr Hill joined New Horizons Medical Partnership as a registrar, before taking up partnership in February 2024. She is interested in learning disabilities, delivery of services and ensuring good access to health care for all. Outside of work, Dr Hill enjoys sewing, crafts and running around after her young family.

Dr Douglas trained at the University of Southampton, graduating in 2011, and has a BSc in Human Biology from the University of Loughborough. Since then she has worked across Hampshire and Surrey and spent some time working in New Zealand. She completed her GP training in Wessex, which included a Fellowship with West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group. Her interests are preventive medicine and health promotion. She enjoys travelling and outdoor activities.

Dr Everitt has been an University Associate GP undertaking clinical work in Totton for over 20 years. She is a Professor in Primary Care Research at the University of Southampton where she leads research projects and teaches medical students. She is also co-author of the Oxford Handbook of General Practice. Her special interests include gastrointestinal disorders particularly IBS, insomnia and musculoskeletal disorders.

Community Nurses

The district nursing team consists of qualified registered nurses and a specialist trained care assistant. They provide skilled nursing care, following an assessment of the individual’s and carers/family members’ needs, to housebound people in their own homes or in residential care. The district nurses provide specialist community care, which includes the management of wounds, continence, chronic disease, various acute illnesses and cancer. Subsequently, they also undertake many nursing procedures such as dressings, administration of injections, ear care, bowel care and investigative tests. This care is provided in close partnership with the individual, their family/carers, the GPs and allied health professionals and agencies. The majority of the district nurses’ work takes place in the patient’s own home/residential home. The district nurses can be contacted on 02380 428488 – Monday to Friday, between 08:30 and 16:30.

 Community Midwives

If you think you may be pregnant, arrange to do a pregnancy test via a kit purchased from the pharmacy. If your test is positive, make an appointment to see your doctor who will then refer you to one of the community midwives. Please ensure you make the receptionist aware that you need a first antenatal appointment with the doctor. The midwife will then make arrangements for your antenatal care. This is usually shared between the midwife, the GP and in some cases, a consultant obstetrician.

 Health Visitors

Health visitors are qualified nurses with additional training in child and family health. They advise on a variety of health related issues, but they work mainly with parents, carers and children under the age of 5 advising on all aspects of a child’s well-being and development. The health visiting service hold Child Health Clinics on the following days: Every Wednesday between 09:30 and 12:00 at Totton Community Centre Every first Tuesday of the month between 09:30 and 11:30 at Mulberry Community Centre, Marchwood The health visiting team can be contacted on 02380 427518.
