Urgent appointments
To request an urgent on the day appointment (Monday to Friday):
- Phone us from 8am.
- Visit the surgery from 8:30am and speak with a Care Coordinator.
All appointment requests will be triaged.
The information you give us will help us direct you to the most appropriate health professional. This may be a doctor, nurse, local pharmacist or walk-in centre.
Routine appointments
Most routine appointments are booked for one week ahead.
To request an appointment:
- Phone us from 8:30am Monday to Friday.
- Visit the surgery and speak to a Care Coordinator.
- Use our online eConsult tool to request an appointment.
When you request an appointment, you may be asked questions in order that we book you with the correct clinician. All the clinicians have different areas of expertise.
Your appointment
However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:
- By phone
- Face-to-face at the surgery
- On a video call (special circumstances only)
Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.
Telephone Consultations
They can be used if a face to face consultation is not felt to be essential and can save considerable time for both patients and doctors alike.
Cancelling or changing an appointment
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters may be removed from the list.
You can also text to cancel your appointment.
To cancel your appointment:
- Phone us, Monday to Friday during our opening times (and press option 0)
- Reply CANCEL to your appointment reminder text message
- Use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
If you need help when we are closed
If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.
NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
If you need help with your appointment
Please tell us:
- If there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond.
- If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email.
- If you need an interpreter.
- If you have any other access or communication needs.
Chaperone
If required, we will be happy to provide a chaperone. Please speak with the receptionist, doctor or nurse.
Interpreter
If you require an interpreter to attend with you during your appointment please notify our reception team in advance and they can arrange this for you.
Home visits
Home visits should only be requested if it is impossible for you to visit the surgery. However, please remember that, on average, between three to five patients can be seen by a doctor in surgery during the time it takes to do one home visit.
If a home visit is required, please request this before 12:00 whenever possible, so that your doctor is able to schedule his/her visits. After midday, the duty doctor for the day will cover all other calls on an emergency basis.
